Mat Pilates · First class guide · 7 min read

Your first Mat Pilates class

What to bring, how the class is coached and what beginners can expect from a low-impact strength session.
01

What to bring

Wear clothing that lets you move comfortably and bring water. If the booking notes request a mat, bring one; otherwise contact the team before class and we will clarify what is available.

02

What the class feels like

Mat Pilates uses controlled movements, breathing and deliberate strength work. Low impact does not mean effortless: smaller movements can be challenging when performed with control.

03

You do not need to be flexible

Flexibility is not an entry requirement. Your coach can adjust positions, range of motion and exercise choices. Focus on understanding the movement rather than forcing a shape.

04

How to get comfortable

Choose a position where you can see or hear the instructor, mention injuries or relevant concerns before class, and ask for clarification when needed. Familiarity usually grows quickly over the first few sessions.
